At roughly 1.5 kilometers long and roughly 400,000 square meters in size, Kehi no Matsubara is known for its magnificent contrast between the white of the sand and the green of the pines. This nationally-designated Site of Scenic Beauty is lush with Japanese red and black pines. Kehi no Matsubara is considered one of Japan’s three most beautiful pine parks, alongside Miho no Matsubara in Shizuoka and Niji no Matsubara in Saga, and when swimming season begins in summer, Kehi no Matsubara positively bustles with beachgoers, including many from other prefectures. Walking trails are also maintained here, making Kehi no Matsubara a popular destination for a walk, or even just as a place where locals like to relax. The Legend of the Overnight Pine Grove During the reign of Emperor Shomu, the area came under attack by foreign invaders. Suddenly, the whole area began to shake, and thousands of pine trees appeared along the coast in a single night, topped with countless white herons: they were as though battle flags, flapping in the wind. The attackers saw what appeared to be tens of thousands of troops, and were said to have beaten a hasty retreat.

A night of incredible beauty, set against the backdrop of the natural beauty of Kehi no Matsubara (Pine Tree Park). Red, blue, and yellow floating lanterns brilliantly light up the sea, while fireworks are fired off from offshore, filling the sky above with magnificent light and sound.

Traffic Restriction Information
Traffic is restricted in the area on the day of the fireworks show.

Parking lots become very crowded, so please refrain from coming by car.

If you park your vehicle within the restricted traffic area, please note that you will not be able to get your vehicle out immediately following the fireworks show.

Parking spaces are limited, so please refrain from coming by car.

Shuttle bus service is provided from the temporary parking areas to near the fireworks area (approx. 15–20 min. walk).

Following the fireworks show, leaving pedestrians are given priority, after which vehicles can leave.

Swimming, as well as navigating or anchoring vessels, is prohibited within the exclusion zone.
